Description |
In order to determine the pitentuak yield of Tagetes erecta, a well known ornamental plant whose petals are used as a source of colorant for food and feed industry, a field trail was conducted from February to May 1992 for the study of different sowing dates on the yield performance of the crop. Plant height, number of primary branches, flowerl (fresh and dry petal)yield was significantly higher in treatments sown on March 27 and April 10.The growth, flower and petal yield of Tagets was optimum when sown in last week of March till second week of April under Palampur conditions suggesting that the external factors affect the growth and development by induction, quantitatively and formatively.
