Description |
The circulation pattern of the surface waters in the North Indian Ocean for different months of the year is discussed. In order to arrive at a reliable and detailed picture of the circulation pattern, streamlines are drawn using the isogon technique. The major features of the singularities in the circulation pattern are indicated by the symbols A, B, C, D and E which represent a neutral point, a divergence point, a convergence point, a divergence line and a convergence line respectively. The magnitude of the current is indicated at intervals of 0.5 knot by various types of representation. The divergence and convergence of the surface waters over the area are studied in relation to the singularities as well as the coastal circulation pattern
