Description |
The occurrence and distribution of Vibrio parahaemolyticus and related organisms were studied from offshore water samples (Lat. 10 degrees N and Long. 65 degrees to 69 degrees E) collected at 5, 10, 50, 100, 200 and 500 m depths and in the surface water samples of Minicoy lagoon during January, 1982. V. parahaemolyticus like organisms contributed upto 94.4% of total viable counts in the offshore stations and 5.3% in lagoon stations. Although typical V. parahaemolyticus were not recorded from the open ocean, in the lagoon waters their density ranged from 0.002 to 0.66% of the total viable counts
