Description The paper deals with the systematic study of the fungal spores recovered from five sediment cores from the Arabian Sea The fungal spore assemblage recorded here includes 12 genera viz., @iInapertisporites, Dicellaesporites, Multicellaesporites, Staphlosporonites, Polycellaesporonites, Monoporisporites, Lacrimasporonites, Basidiosporites, Didymoporisporonites, Pluricellaesporites, Diporisporites@@ and @iDiporicellaesporites@@ and 42 species Of these, one genus viz @iPolycellaesporonites@@ and 25 species are new to the record @iInapertisporites@@ is represented in all the samples and is the most common element of the assemblage The distribution of various fungal spore genera and species in each core has been discussed
