The paper deals with the systematic study of the fungal spores recovered from five sediment cores from the Arabian Sea The fungal spore assemblage recorded here includes 12 genera viz., @iInapertisporites, Dicellaesporites, Multicellaesporites, Staphlosporonites, Polycellaesporonites, Monoporisporites, Lacrimasporonites, Basidiosporites, Didymoporisporonites, Pluricellaesporites, Diporisporites@@ and @iDiporicellaesporites@@ and 42 species Of these, one genus viz @iPolycellaesporonites@@ and 25 species are new to the record @iInapertisporites@@ is represented in all the samples and is the most common element of the assemblage The distribution of various fungal spore genera and species in each core has been discussed
