In the hatchery production of cultivable shell-fishes and fin-fishes, a reliable and continuous supply of live food of appropriate size is of importance. The organisms cultured as live feed presently in India are the microalgae, turbellarians, tanaidaceans, rotifers, annelids, brine shrimps, cladocerans and copepods. Their culture methods and yield are briefly summarized. Suggestions have been made for the cultivation of other organisms which have potential for use as live feed
