Description Indian coastline has vast potentials of seaweed resources. Seaweed resource evaluation carried out so far recorded about 650 seaweed species with biomass to the tune of 100,000 tons (wet wt.) annually from the intertidal areas. The paper encompasses various applied aspects like evaluation of seaweed resources, utilization, management, harvesting techniques and conservation in India. there seems to be a vast potential of using seaweeds for food, feed, fertilization and medicine in the 21st century
