Description |
Surveys conducted in aquaculture farm showed that oxygen level varies between 3 to 5 ml. oxygen per litre. This is not adequate for high production and also cause pollution. However if aeration is replaced with positively charged ozone, oxygen levels in the ponds can be increased and maintained between 4 to 6 ml per litre or more ozone helps in reducing biological oxygen demand of pond water and effluents and minimises bacterial load. The paper recommends use of positively charged ozone for industrial and semi-intensive culture both in hatcheries and grow-out ponds.
