Description |
Bell pepper (Capsicum annuum L.) also known as sweet pepper or "Shimla Mirch" is member of family Solanaceae. It is native of Mexico with secondary centre of origin in Guatemala (Bukasov, 1930 and Smith and Heiser, 1957). Nutritionally bell pepper is very rich in vitamin C containing about 150-180 mg per 100 gm of green fruit (Heiser and Smith, 1953).
