Description Environment! We have all become concerned with it. Why? because our health, wealth well-being and survival is dependent on it. We never bothered about it as long we used it for our needs and are now concerned because it is not adequate to meet our greed as Mahatma Gandhi had said that "there is enough for every ones need but not for their greed". Our greed has put the environment in jeopardy, we are threatened with a slow death towards extinction. Once admired for its bountiful water resources, in India has progressively depleted, its water supply due to various factors including, increasing population, rapid urbanisation, deforestation and the resultant soil erosion and flawed water management. Human beings use huge quantity of water for drinking, cleaning and various other cultural functions and dispose of it as waste water with in sewage. With increase in population the magnitude of this waste is multiplying enormously and beyond the recycling capacity of the local eco-system and becomc: major environmental hazard. Recycling of organic waste assumes a great importance.
