Description |
Peppermint plants belong to the genus Mentha and famlly Labiatae. The extraction, processing and marketing of peppermint oil is between 18 to 22 thousand tone per annm (Mehra, 1982). The major terpene in peppermint oil is menthol, an alcohol (Landings, 1969). The cool Puta refreshing flavours make peppermint oil very popular for improving the taste of a wide range of manufactured products, especially like chewing gum, tooth paste, tabacoo, confectionery etc. (Guenther, 1949).
