Description |
Grain legumes or pulses have been cultivated in India since times immemorial. These provide a rich and cheap source of protein, particularly to the vegetarians and the poor, who constitute the bulk of the population in India as well as in other developing countries of the world. Grain legumes are preferentially consumed even by the non-vegetarians because they are much cheaper than the eggs, fish and meat.
