Description |
Cauliflower (Brassica oleracea var. botrytis L.) is one of the most important vegetable crops in India. it is grown throughout the country for its white tender curd which is commonly used as vegetable and also in curries, soups and pickles. In view of its pleasant taste and appeal, the area under this crop is increasing constantly (Swarup and Chatterjee, 1974). In India, the area under cauliflower is 90,000 hectares of which more than 25 per cent area is under Snowball cauliflower (Chatterjee, 1986). In Himachal Pradesh, 568 hectares are planted under cauliflower with a production of about 9770 tonnes (Anonymous,l988).
