They are an indispensable component of agriculture, not only by way of providing timber, fuel and fodder to the farmers, but also by protecting his land against the ravage of floods and erosion. In the developing countries like ours, forest occupy a place of paramount importance in meeting basic needs of fuel, fodder and timber.
