Description |
Flax and linseed are the designation given to the taxonomically same plant Linum usitatissimum L belonging to the family Linaceae. The former is preferably tall with smooth and scarcely branched straw of low capsule bearing ability and is cultivated exclusively for fibre production. The latter is dwarf and multibranched with high seed yields but poor in fibre production and quality and is grown for oil yields (Gill, 1987).
