Description The rice-wheat cropping system dominates agricultural system in Northern parts of I. country with an approximate area of 10.5 m hectares(Singh, 1995). The rice-wheat cropping system is pivotal to food security system not only of the country but of Indian subcontinent as a whole. The ten-fold increase in rice-wheat cropping system in India, Bangladesh, Nepal and Pakistan during the last 30 years is an ample proof of it (IRRI, 1992).
