Description |
The rice-wheat cropping system dominates agricultural system in Northern parts of I. country with an approximate area of 10.5 m hectares(Singh, 1995). The rice-wheat cropping system is pivotal to food security system not only of the country but of Indian subcontinent as a whole. The ten-fold increase in rice-wheat cropping system in India, Bangladesh, Nepal and Pakistan during the last 30 years is an ample proof of it (IRRI, 1992). About half of the irrigated wheat production in South Asia comes from rice-wheat rotation (Pillai, 1994).
