Due to increasing pressure of population, forests are the victims for meeting the ever increasing demands for food,fuelwood, fodder and timber. It has, thus, become difficult to cope with the reforestation of the denuded areas. The consequences of deforestation are massive, resulting in erosion of fertile soil, reducing their water holding capacity, increasing salinity, alkalinity, desertification and other accompanying changes in climate.
