Apple (Malus x domestiea Borkh.) Occupies a significant place in the horticultural wealth, of Himachal Pradesh. In India, the apple production is confined mainly to the Western Himalayas and has attained sizeable dimensions in the last few decades. The estimated annual production of apple world over is about 59963 thousand metric tonnes whereas, in India, the production is about 1320 thousand metric tonnes (FAO, 2000).
