Chrysanthemum (Dendranthema grandiflora Tzvelev. (Syn. Chrysanthemum morifolium Ramat.) is one of the leading commercial flowers, important as cut flower as well as pot plant in the world. The major use of small flowered chrysanthemum in our country is for making garlands, venis, and in religious offerings. Nevertheless, modern chrysanthemum is now being cherished as a cut flower also. In international trade, it ranked second as cut flower and fifth as pot plant during 1999 (Anonymous, 2000).
