Description |
Kinnow (Citrus nobilis x Citrus deliciosa) is a leading cultivar of mandarins in North-Western India owing to its profuse bearing, excellent fruit quality and high profits. In Himachal Pradesh, Kinnow cultivation started much later than other parts of the country, which subsequently extended to several foot hill areas upto an elevation of 750 m above mean sea level. Now, Kinnow along with other mandarins are grown in an area of 13,514 ha with an annual production of 3,860 tonnes, whereas its production at national level accounts to 9,38,192 tonnes from 1,43,475 hectares (Anonymous, 1995).
