Description |
A large number of insect species belonging to family Pyralidae have been recorded to feed on various trees and some of them are also pests of agricultural and horticultural crops. Feeding habits include defoliators, skeletonizers, leaf rollers, shoot borers, seed and fruit borers. In addition to their well known pest status as forest and agricultural pests they are also of great ecological importance as they are alternative hosts of parasites and part of the food supply of predators.
