Description |
Fertilizers have contributed in green revolution and their contribution in the present status of food production is to the extent of 50 per cent (Anon., 1990). With the decontrol of phosphatic and potassic fertilizers, the subsidies on then have been drastically reduced and their prices have skyrocketed (Anon., 1996). As a result of spiraling fertilizer prices, their use has gone beyond the reach of nost of the snail and narginal farners. Hence, the farners are looking for alternate sources of these nutrients so as to cut down their fertilizer bill without affecting optinun crop production.
