Description |
It would not be far wrong if it were to say that "BAMBOO IS A BIZARRE NATURAL ENDOWMENT TO MANKIND" which facilitates man by providing a cradle to spend his very childhood; a homestead to combat the infelicities of weather; food to be on earth; fuel to cook his meal; fodder to feed his cattle; toys to divert his children; tools to plough his fields; weapons to protect himself from enemies; paper to set down its own praise of virtues and finally coffin to take him to 'His Abode'. It is possible to estimate that at least one third of the human race is making use of this perennial plant (Lessard, 1980).
