Almond (Prunus amygdalus Batsch syn Prunus dulcis Miller [D.A.Webb]) is an important nut fruit with widespread popularity throughout the world. Apart from raw consumption as an edible nut, it has also industrial application as a major ingredient in many manufactured food products. Almond kernels are rich source of energy. They also contain high amount of fat, proteins, minerals and vitamins (Kester and Asay, 1975).
