Description |
Cucullber (Cucumis sativus L.), a member of the Family Cucurbitaceae is one of the oldest cultivated vegetable crops. It is being cultivated for the last over three thousand years and has probably originated in India (DeCandole, 1886). It is used mainly for fresh consumption as slicing cucumber and also for preservation as a pickling cucumber. It is thermophyllic and frost susceptible and grows well at temperature above 20C . Hence, it is extensively grown in tropical and sub-tropical parts of the country.
