Food is of paramount importance to the humans. It must provide us with a continuous supply of energy and with those essential compounds that humans are not able produce themselves. For getting the energy carbohydrates, lipids and proteins are oxidised usually to carbon dioxide and water. Yet, human beings are not able to synthesise many essential compounds like amino acids, fatty acids and vitamins and therefore, we have to absolutely depend upon other organisms having variations in habitat and life-cycles. Consequently, it is a great logistic feat for the food scientists to fulfill the continuous daily food requirements by having food available in some usable form as per the need.
