Description |
Bell pepper (Capsicum annuum L.) popularly known as "Shimla Mirch", is an important off-season cash crop especially for the vegetable growers of Solan and Sirmour area of Himachal Pradesh. It is continuously exported from June to October to various markets in plains of North India, where it can not be grown because of its specific growth requirements for temperature (20-30degC) coupled with high relative humidity particularly at fruit set. Bell pepper, besides being a cash crop, is also an important vegetarian food because of its high nutritional value.
