| Description |
The importance of fertilizers in increasing the production of food grains and other crops is being well recognised by the farmers with the advent of Green Revolution. Estimates by the World Bank for a twenty year period (1951-52 to 1972-7 3) reveal that the percentage of total yield increase due to fertilizers alone is of the order of 49 per cent.
