Description Organochlorine pesticides were produced in large amounts in the 1940-1950s and the global production increased tremendously year by year. Persistent organochlorine pesticides (POPs) such as DDT and HCH have been found to be wonder insecticides not only in agriculture but also in public health for the control of malaria (West and Campbell, 1950; Cushing, 1957).
