Description |
Pea (Pisum Sctivum L.) is grown almost throughout the world over an area of about 10.5 million hectares. In India it is cultivated on 0.58 million hectares both as a vegetable and as a pulse crop with an average production of 28.36 and 6.75 q/ha respectively. Pea provides a variety of vegetarian dishes and is consumed as fresh vegetable, as a pulse, or as a canned, frozen or dehydrated product. Freshly shelled green peas are highly nutritive because of high content of digestible proteins, carbohydrates, minerals and vitamins.
