Description |
Peach (Prunus persica Batsch) is one of the important stone fruits grown in the temperate regions of the world. In India, its cultivation is confined to low and mid hill areas of Himalayan region with the exception of some low chilling cultivars which are grown under sub-tropical conditions of North India. This fruit is grown in almost all the districts of Himachal Pradesh in an area of about 3480 ha (Azad et al., 1990) except in dry and cold climate of Lahaul and Spiti, Kinnaur and Chamba districts. Rajgarh area of Sirmour district is known for quality peach production.
