Description |
Fertilizers constitute an important input in the production of fruit crops. In peaches, which are commercially grown both in the temperate and subtropical regions of India, fertilizer availability and application poses certain problems which at times are not available to the growers. Many growers are also dissuaded to apply them in substantial quantities because of short supply and high prices. However, increased fertilizer cost and awareness of environmental pollution due to fertilizer run off may necessitate the use of bioferti1izer for the development of more efficient fertility management programme. Among these, VA-mycorrhizal fungi and Azotobacter are of great significance to the fruit crops.
