The rocketing increase in the cost of poultry feed ingredients and the compounded feeds are constantly narrowing the economic returns of the poultry farmers. The present socio-economic situation has adversely affected not only the individual farmery but also the poultry industry as a whole. A number of farmers have adopted poultry farming mainly to improve their economic conditions and to generate self employment. Now the ray of hope for the prosperity of this farming venture lies in the hands of the poultry nutritionists, who must develop suitable formulations based on the cheaper quality feed ingredients which are mainly by-products available from the agricultural, industrial or the forest sectors.
