Description |
The garden pea (Pisum sativum L.), a member of family fabaceae, is one of the important vegetable crops grown during cool season all over the world. In India, it is cultivated over an area of about 98,000 ha with annual production of 267 thousand metric tonnes (FAO, 1993). It is commercially grown as a winter crop in Northern Indian plains and as a summer crop in the high hills.
