Description |
In India about 11,400 thousand hectares are under permanent pastures 'which account for approximately four per cent of the toted world's pastural area, whereas in Himachal Pradesh, 1,158 thousand hectares are under permanent pastures out of which 70 per cents under temperate and alpine vegetative cover {Anonymous, 19921. These pastures are spread from 300 to 4,500m above msl comprising sub-tropical, temperate and alpine types.
