Description |
The importance of land resource to mankind needs no elaboration. To cope up with the ever increasing foodgrain requirement, in the absence of any significant scope for horizontal expansion, vertical growth in agriculture through increased production per unit area per unit time is the only alternative, which involves intensive use of resources and inputs, resulting in the impoverishment of soil health. Therefore, increasing the production and productivity on sustainable basis is yet another challenge before the agriculture scientists and planners.
