Description |
Among the grain legumes, soybean (Glycine max (L.) Merrill) is one of the most potential crops for combating protein calorie malnutrition. It is the cheapest source of vegetable oil, having an ideal combination of high quality protein (40%), twice the other grain legumes and 20% oil about half of the cammon oilseed crops. In India, soybean is grown on an area of 1,654.7 thousand hectares with total production of 1,500.8 thousand tonnes (Anonymous, 1990).
