In several parts of Himachal Pradesh, the agro-climatic conditions are conducive for the production of vegetables like tomato, cucumber, cauliflower, peas, beans, capsicum and root crops, which are successfully grown in the season when these are not available in north-Indian plains. Hence, Himachal Pradesh can rightly be called the 'glasshouse' of the country for the production of vegetables which become off-season for the neighbouring plains.
