Description Plum is an important fruit crop of temperate and sub-tropical regions of the world. In India, it is successfully grown in Himachal Pradesh, Jammu 8 Kashmir and hills of Uttar Pradesh in the north; and Nilgiris and Kodaikanal in the south. In Himachal Pradesh the cultivation of plum has assumed considerable commercial importance in the mid hills with elevation ranging from 1000 to 1600 metre above mean sea level. Presently it occupies more than fifty percent of the total area (1,08,676 ha) under stone fruits (Anonymous, 1983).
