Description |
Nitrogen is the most important nutrient element in soil organic matter when considered from the economic standpoint* Crop yields are often directly proportional to nitrogen and, therefore, it is required in much larger amounts and i s more likely to be deficient in most of the soil-crop-environment situations. It is believed that the agricultural crops especially forages and vegetables have a higher annual nitrogen requirement than forest or natural plant communities and the annual demand for nitrogen under tropical conditions is higher than under temperate climates (Date, 1973).
