| Description |
In Himachal Pradesh, apple is the most important temperate fruit grown . Its cultivation, therefore has been receiving special attention in the state. Many strides have been made to expand its cultivation even in the marginal areas and resultantly at present an estimated area of 47,000 he is under apple cultivation (Agarwala, 1985). It has rightly become the Golden crop of the hills and Himachal Pradesh alone produces about 25 per cent of total apple produces in the country. Though there are several diseases inflicting injury partly or wholly to an apple tree, one of the most important is the powdery mildew.
