Description The book "Vegetable Growing in India" (Status, problems and prospectus) has been compiled by the authors keeping in view the increasing importance of vegetables in the country under varied agro-climatic conditions to meet the requirement of increasing population. However, lndia is the second largest producer of vegetables only next to China in the world. The information regarding vegetable area, production, productivity, vegetables/seed/off-season vegetables grown in each state, agro-climatic zones and export potential, etc. of each State and Union Territory of the country percolating from different sources have been compiled in the form of above mentioned manuscript. Though scattered information is available that too on cultural practices and other aspects of vegetable/seed crops but no such information is available. The detail information distilled from various sources will be quite useful to the students, teachers, scientists, research and extension workers and the planners, financing organisation, both in public and private sector.
The unique feature of the said book is that a special attention has been given to contain the detail information of each state regarding economic role being played, vegetable varieties grown, impact of environmental factors and zones and more so these all embodied does cut across the geo-ecological boundaries but most applicable in agro-climatic situations all alien to each state.
