| Description |
The 1981 Census enumeration was conducted in February-March 1981, with sunrise of 1st March, 1981 as the reference point of time. The houseless were enumerated on the night of the 28th February and a revisional round was conducted from 1st to 5th March 1981. In certain Inaccessible areas, however, the enumeration was carried out non-synchronously. These areas include the snow bound regions of Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh and Sikkim and certain parts of Andaman and Nicobar Islands where the enumeration was carried out in September-October 1980.
