Description |
In India about 175 million hectares of the geographical area is subjected to various processes of land degradation, leading to occurrence of wastelands. The bouldery riverbed lands occupy about one-third of the land area in Doon valley of north-western India. The fertile lands adjoining seasonal streams arc getting eroded every year due to torrential rains, resulting in emergence of sand and gravels along the riverbed.
