Description |
The animal world is mostly invertebrate - lacking a backbone. Vertebrates, for all the honour and prominence accorded to them, represent a mere part of one group (phylum) of the animal kingdom, whereas invertebrates occupy about twenty-five phyla of widely different animals. The purpose of this book is to direct the attention of naturalists and students to the profusion of invertebrate wildlife that surrounds them.
