Description |
The present investigation was carried out to study the growth performance and carcass characteristics of Pearl and Lavender varieties of guinea fowl with special reference to supplementation of shatavari (Asparagus recemosus). The growth parameters studied were body weight, average, weekly, body weight gain upto 14 weeks of age in shatavari root powder supplemented and non supplemented groups of Pearl and Lavender varieties of guinea fowl. The average weight of (g) of guinea fowls at day old age were 23.3 + 0.36, 24.12 + 0.36, 25.18 + 0.46 and 25.58 + 0.48 for Pearl control, Pearl treatment, Lavender control and Lavender treatment groups, respectively, which increased to 1128.78 + 10.71, 1182.64 + 8.62, 1097.88 + 10.99 and 11.26.88 + 8.22, respectively at 14th weeks of age. The average body weights were observed higher in treatment groups of both varieties.
