1,3,4-Thiadiazole and its derivatives are important organic reaction intermediates and widely used by the chemists in the past to explore its biological activities. One of the starting material, 5-methyl-1,3,4-thiadiazole-2-thiol is a part of well known antibiotic, Cefazolin Sodium. Therefore, a series of 1,3,4-thiadiazole derivatives have been synthesized using an appropriate synthetic route starting from 5-methyl/amino-1,3,4-thiadiazole-2-thiols and characterized by physico-chemical and spectral data. The synthesized compounds were further taken up for their antifungal, antinemic and nitrification inhibitory activities. |
