Description The recovery of Fusarium moniliforme was more from grains of Basmati CSR 30 than Pusa
Basmati 1121 at the beginning of experiment in December, 2013. Among different grain components, the
recovery was maximum from lemma followed by palea, endosperm and embryo. The fungus survived in all
the grain components in both the Basmati cultivars till next crop season crop, indicating that the pathogen
is both internally and externally seed borne. Out of 105 scented rice genotypes, 19 genotypes viz. CN 1722-
4, Haryana Basmati 1, Haryana Mahak, HKR 08-425, HKR 12-406, KMR 1-41, MAUB 2014-1, MAUB
2014-2, NDR 6222, NDR 6345, NP 973-2, Pusa 1460 (Improved PB1), Pusa 1557-06-28-188-1-17, RDN

resistant under both nursery and field conditions. The disease incidence was significantly higher by
transplanting 40 to 60 days old seedlings than 20 to 30 days old seedlings indicating that older seedling
favoured the bakanae incidence. Neem cake and press mud were the most effective amendements in
reducing the disease under both moderate as well as high disease pressure. Trifloxystrobin 25% +
tebuconazole 50% and carbendazim were found to be the most inhibitory in terms of EC50 and EC90 values
while under nursery and field conditions, seed soaking in carbendazim, tebuconazole, trifloxystrobin 25% +
tebuconazole 50% and azoxystrobin proved highly effective against bakanae.
