Description |
An investigation entitled, “Effect of planting time on performance of wheat variety WH-711 under zero tillage conditions was conducted at KVK farm Kurukshetra during Rabi season of 2002-2003. The experiment was laid out in randomized block design with three replications. The treatments comprised of date of sowings i.e. from Nov. 1 to Dec. 18 at an interval of 7 days. The variety was WH-711. The experiment on the efficiency of wheat variety WH-711 under zero tillage conditions with different planting time showed that the crop sown in the field on Nov. 1 to Nov. 14 under zero tillage conditions gave maximum yield (both grain and straw). The further delay in sowing will reduce the yield under zero tillage conditions. The experiment also revealed that the delay in sowing from Nov. 14 to Dec. 18 reduce the nutrient contents and significant decline in nutrient uptake both in grain and straw. However, this practice allowed a significant reduction in cost of cultivation at farmers level. Delay in sowing reduce the grain yield by about 50% due to reduction in crop duration, plant height (14.9%). |
