Description |
The field experiment entitled, “Performance of different management practices in late sown wheat” was conducted at Agronomy Research Farm of CCS Haryana Agricultural University, Hisar, during rabi season of 2010-11. It is situated at 29o10’ N latitude and 75o46’ E longitude at an altitude of 215.2 meters above mean sea level. The experiment was laid out in randomized block design. There were twelve treatments namely T1- Normal seed rate, T2- 25% higher seed rate than normal, T3- T2+Overnight soaked seeds, T4-T3+ Seed treatment with 0.2% thiram, T5-T4+ Seed treatment with Azotobacter, T6-T5+Spraying of 3% urea at boot stage, T7-T6+Spraying of 1% KCl at anthesis, T8- T2+Seed treatment with 1% KCl, T9-T8+ Seed treatment with 0.2% thiram, T10-T9+Seed treatment with Azotobacter, T11-T10+Spraying of 3 % urea at boot stage and T12-T11+Spraying of 1% KCl at anthesis. The treatment T7 resulted in highest seedling emergence and minimum number of seedling emerged was found in T1. The days taken to attainment of physiological maturity were significantly higher in T7 as compared toT1. The dry matter accumulation, LAI, LAD and CGR were significantly higher in T7 than all other treatments. Among the yield attributing characters, number of effective tillers/mrl, number of grains per spike, spike length, number of spikelets per spike and test weight were highest in T7 followed by T6 and lowest in T1. Among the yield attributes number of effective tiller/mrl (r = 0.839), number of grains per spike (r = 0.887), spike length (r = 0.690), number of spikelets per spike (r = 0.809) and test weight (r = 0.726) had significant positive correlation with grain yield. Biomass yield (r = 0.942) and straw yield (r = 0.795) of wheat also had significant positive association with grain yield. Among all the treatments T7 resulted in significantly highest grain yield (4451 kg/ha) and biological yield (10538 kg/ha). Significantly lower grain (3793 kg/ha) and biological yield (9059 kg/ha) was observed in T1as compared to all other treatments except T6which was found statistically at par. Highest net return (`16554) were obtained in T7 and which was more than double as compared to T1(` 8155). |
