Description |
Alternaria tegetica is responsible for causing the Alternaria leaf spot and flower blight of marigold. No symptom was expressed on sunflower and zinnia. On the basis of morphological characters of mycelium, conidium, conidiophores and pathogenicity test, it was identified as Alternaria tagetica (Shome and Mustafee). In delay transplanting from September to October, there was reduction in leaf spot and flower blight of marigold. Alternaria leaf spot severity had significant negative correlation with temperature (maximum and minimum) and bright sunshine hours, but significant positive correlation with relative humidity (morning and evening). Maximum avoidable yield loss (70.88%) was found in unsprayed treatment (check). Maximum mycelial growth inhibition was observed in tebuconazole followed by propiconazole. Maximum disease control on leaves and flowers (82.80 and 89.97%) was recorded when tebuconazole spray (0.1%) was applied in combination with captan followed by propiconazole (0.1%) i.e 79.96 and 88.09% disease control on leaves and flower of marigold. Maximum B: C ratio was also achieved in tebuconazole. |
